* reese nikolas burke,
Say you're with me
There's gold ahead
There's golden dreams
And life's hills and valleys
Yeah, will you hold on with me

reese nikolas burke, born in detroit, michigan to parents that were actually...well, responsible. he was their first child, and not their last. they had five other kids after him, his twin sisters, and his three brothers, all varying in different ages between the spans of maybe two and three years. he was the oldest of the family, and that meant he had more responsibility on his shoulders. so when his mother started to lose it, well, it was left for reese to keep the family together while his father tried to get their mother back. reese's mother was always twitchy, her eyes seemed distant like she wasn't here at all, and sometime she'll just look at reese with a blank expression and ask who he was. troubling, yes, and it made reese frown every time. she was his mother, the women who was supposed to give him advice and bake..cookies, right? and here she was, screaming and throwing a fit because she thought she was being kidnapped by her own husband.
he started taking care of the household now, making dinner, doing laundry, ext. while his father tried to help their mother, who seemed to not want anyones help at all. when reese was nine, his mother ran to him, scooped him up and then proceeded to run off with him. putting him into her car and speeding off, leaving everyone else in the dust. his father shaking his fist with a angry and urgent face, and his siblings standing around wondering what was happening. he remembered his mother saying to him that they needed their space, and that reese was to come with her to arizona with her. so they started their long journey to arizona, with reese completely scared out of his mind. his mother was still twitchy..but didn't seem that bad to her earlier spells where she completely forgot who he was.
soon but too soon, they ran out of money after their sixth stop to arizona. it was day six of the trip that had started with his own mother pulling him away from his family. so for ways to get money, his mother usually walked up to guys and talked to them, and then reese would see her walking off with this man. and it would be hours sometimes before his mother would come back with a huge wad of cash, and when reese would ask where she was and what she was doing. she slapped him, said he needed to keep his dirty little mouth shut. reese kept quiet since then, not saying anything possibly the whole car ride to arizona except for maybe, 'i need to go to the bathroom' or something. he was deeply afraid, of his own mother. the person who was supposed to love him.
they made it to arizona on reese's birthday, and his mother rented a small apartment on the outskirts of a place called tempe. reese's mother would leave reese countless times at night, kissing his head roughly, smelling of cigarettes and alcohol. and when reese would whine for his father or little sisters and brothers, his mother would hit him to make him shut up and say that they didn't need us anymore, and that we were strong people and that we didn't whine about anything, ever. and then reese kept his mouth shut..again, not wanting to be hit. when he was eleven, he comprehended what his mother did for a living, which made him sick to his stomach, and he started to avoid her more then he already did. he hated it in arizona, and usually found music calming and soothing for him. he took some of his mother's money, knowing she wouldn't be using it anytime soon, well he hoped not, and set on his way to the nearest guitar store in town.
when he came home with the guitar, his mother did a once over and asked what the piece of junk was. reese told her it was a guitar, and continued to his room. his mother had shrugged, lit another cigarette, and layed on the couch. his mother...was a huge liar, and possibly the best actor reese has ever met. all that stuff about forgetting who he was was just a act, part of her plan. sure..reese didn't know all of her plan, but when his mom sat him down to tell him what she did, he didn't quite understand her motives for doing such a thing, so he just nodded his head so she would...leave to do what she did. school, well...school was school. reese usually kept to himself, had a small group of friends that he would usually hang around with, usually that was it. girl's didn't seem to take alot of interest in him because he wasn't the star football player, or did any sports actually. they over-looked him, and went straight for the self-centered, fake baked, huge muscled guys who didn't seem to care about anything but getting some. high-school went by fast, and soon he graduated and decided to move out. with little money he had..he decided to move in with a friend in huntington, where he ended up.
